As the life blood of any athletic program, recruiting the right student-athletes is imperative. To that end, we will embark on a search for coachable student-athletes who possess a commitment to academics, a positive attitude, integrity, and athletic talent. Using this approach will allow us to continue to attract qualified student-athletes who are a good fit for our program and the institution. It will allow us to build a program. It will allow us not only to recruit the best, but to retain them.

Although many want to recruit champions, they ought not to rely only on the student-athlete’s innate physical ability. The program that redefines champion seeks to attract well-rounded student-athletes who love the game and who possess the heart of the redefined champion.

 

Coaches who redefine champion seek to recruit the student-athlete who

• remains committed to academic success

• maintains a positive mental attitude.

• possesses a high level of integrity

• is, or has the potential to be athletically successful

           

Within the mission of the school it is important to allow all who may be interested an opportunity. There are many roles that people with different gifts can fill. We look for people who are willing to fill these roles. It is our jobs as coaches to place them where they will be the most successful and to coach them to achieve that success.

 

Nationwide Search. We will continue nationwide recruiting efforts; however, we will create and implement a transition program to assist student-athletes in adjusting to life in a collegiate environment.

 

Personal Contact. Each coach is responsible for developing the relationships needed to be successful in the recruiting process. It is critical to develop and continue a personal relationship with prospective athletes.

As we build a program intentionally around the concept of redefining champions, we must ensure that student-athletes involved in the football program add to the overall experience at our school—not detract from it. Through our commitment to finding student-athletes who share the desire to redefine champion, we will build a program of integrity that is successful on and off the field.
